Candidate Filing Information for Coralville City Election

The Office of Mayor and three City Council positions will be on the ballot for the 2017 Coralville city election on November 7. See candidate and forum information

Running for Office

Coralville City Council and Mayoral candidates may officially declare their candidacy by filing nomination papers, including an Affidavit of Candidacy and Nomination Petition, with the Johnson County Auditor during the filing period from August 28 through September 21, 2017, at 5:00 pm. Please note that nomination papers can only be accepted at the Johnson County Auditor’s office, and not at City Hall. Coralville's nomination process is nomination by petition, with one election. Candidates are required to have a minimum of 25 signatures from registered voters residing in Coralville on their petitions. Candidates may begin collecting signatures at any time. Nomination papers can be picked up at the Johnson County Auditor's Office, 913 S. Dubuque Street, Iowa City, or at the Iowa Secretary of State website.

  • City Council meetings (held at City Hall at 6:30 pm on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month, unless otherwise noted) and work sessions (following most Council meetings), are open to the public.
  • Council meetings air live and are rebroadcast on Mediacom channel 118-8, and live and on demand online. View video
