Community Fund Launches Grant Cycle

Coralville Community Fund has launched its fifth annual grant cycle. The Fund is building an endowment to provide financial support for a broad range of charitable needs and community projects throughout Coralville, both now and in the future.

In its first four grant cycles, the Fund awarded nearly $25,000 to a broad range of recipients, including Coralville Public Library, Coralville Central Parent-Teacher Organization, Iowa Children's Museum, City Circle Acting Company of Coralville, Coralville Family Resource Center, Babe Ruth Baseball Organization, Johnson County Historical Society, Safety Village, Coralville Center for the Performing Arts, and others.

The economic recession has negatively impacted local charitable programs and community projects and will continue to impact them in the coming months and years. This downturn illustrates the importance of building a community endowment that can provide much needed support.

Contributions to the Endowment Fund in 2010 are fully deductible for Federal income tax purposes, and are eligible for a 25 percent Iowa income tax credit under the Endow Iowa Program. This bonus is only available for endowment gifts to community foundations, and Coralville Community Fund is an affiliate of Community Foundation of Johnson County.

Grant applications must be submitted electronically by October 1. Grants will be awarded in January 2011.

Contributions to the Coralville Community Fund should be sent c/o Community Foundation of Johnson County, 325 East Washington Street, Iowa City, Iowa 52240. For more information, please contact Mike Stoffregen, Executive Director, at 319.337.0483.
