Coralville Begins Woodland Restoration Project

Picture1

Using a grant from the Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP) program through the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, in 2019 Coralville will begin a Woodland Restoration Project aimed at restoring specific forested areas in Coralville that have been overtaken by non-native invasive species and non-native tree growth.

This project will be a first of its kind for Coralville and will address vegetation like multiflora rose, honeysuckle, oriental bittersweet, as well as, non-native tree species.  After invasive species are removed, a re-vegetation process will be completed where appropriate  The project aims to remove vegetation through mechanical and manual processes and revisits the area three times over the course of the year.

More information and mapping for the targeted areas can be found at www.coralville.org/woodlandrestore
