On Tuesday evening, August 6, all Coralville neighborhoods are invited to take part in the 36th annual National Night Out.
Whether you know your neighbors or not, National Night Out is one night a year for neighbors to connect while strengthening ties with local law enforcement.
The Coralville Police Department invites neighborhoods to get together and host block parties on August 6. The block parties give neighbors a chance to meet through simple potlucks, backyard barbeques, driveway dinners, or neighborhood events with music or kids’ activities. Neighborhoods can host a party in a way that best suits their neighborhood. Representatives from the Coralville Police Department, Fire Department, and City Council will get out and visit as many registered parties as they can.
National Night Out is a night for neighbors to get to know each other, and to get to know local law enforcement. Strong neighborhood ties can build community partnerships and create watchful eyes in neighborhoods, which help to promote crime prevention. Millions of people and thousands of communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases are expected to participate worldwide on August 6.
Neighborhoods can register their block parties, learn more information, and get planning tips at www.coralville.org/NationalNightOut. Registrations are due by July 30. For more information, contact the Coralville Police Department at 319.248.1800 or visit www.coralville.org/NationalNightOut.
