Curbside Recycling
The City of Coralville provides recycling services for single family and duplex housing. Curbside recycling is picked up the same day as garbage.

Collection Time
Set out recycling by 7:00 am the day of pickup to avoid being missed. Please do not set out recycling earlier than 6:00 pm the day before pickup.

Where to Put Your Recycling Bin
Place recycling bin(s) at the curb with the lid closed. Please leave four feet between your recycling bin(s) and your trash cart.   

What You Can Recycle Curbside

*Cardboard is not allowed in your trash. View cardboard recycling information. 

Collection Trucks
City recycling trucks are used to pick up curbside recycling. On occasion, if a recycling truck is out of service, a different truck may be used to collect and transport recycling so that service is not interrupted. In those rare instances, recycling is co-mingled and sorted at the recycling facility.

Curbside Bins

  • All curbside recycling containers must be City-issued yellow bins with black lids. 
  • Each home may have two recycling bins upon request. Check out bins at City Hall at no charge. If your bin is lost, stolen, or damaged, you are responsible for the cost of a replacement bin ($15). 
  • If you move, leave the recycling bin at your service address.

  • If using two containers, using one bin for paper and cardboard and the other bin for separated metals and plastics.

What's Accepted

Sorting
Follow the labels on the containers.  There are five types of bins:

  • Paper goes in one bin
  • Plastic goes in one bin
  • Aluminum/tin goes in one bin
  • Corrugated cardboard in a separate bin
  • Glass goes in the purple bin

Trash is not accepted.

About Glass Recycling at the Coralville Drop-off Recycling Center

Paper, plastic, metal, corrugated cardboard, and glass may be taken to the Coralville Drop-off Recycling Center.

Follow the signs and put the correct items in the correct bins. Note that only glass is accepted in the purple container. Plastic bags, garbage, or non-glass items cannot be included. These things can contaminate the load. Glass is not accepted in curbside recycling collection.
