Health Notice:

When to stay home

Please stay home and do not come to the Recreation Center if you:
  • Have a fever of 100.4F or higher in the past 72 hours
  • Aren't feeling well and have any symptoms of illness (including unexplained cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, chills, unexplained fatigue or muscle aches, headache, runny or stuffy nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, or other symptoms of illness.
  • Have COVID-19
  • Have been exposed in the past 14 days to someone with COVID-19

Recreation Center Use & COVID-19 Guidelines

  • Masks required: all persons entering the Coralville Recreation Center and participating in activities must wear a mask. This is for the duration of your stay in our building. If you do not comply, you will be asked to leave. Exception to this rule is behind a plexiglass area, in a private office, or while swimming/lifeguarding.
  • Social distancing and frequent hand sanitizing is encouraged.
  • Extra cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces is done daily but users acknowledge that entrance and use of a public facility is by own risk.
  • Effective November 17, 2020: A reduced capacity of 15 people is allowed in the activity side of the building and 15 people in the pool. All use is by reservation for a lane, basketball hoop, exercise room, etc. Make a reservation by calling 319-248-1750. No full court or half court games allowed. Must stay on assigned hoop. Max per hoop is two if from same household, otherwise hoops are reserved for one person.

Programs Suspended, Building Use By Appointment Only

Under the November 16 Proclamation for Enhanced Public Health Measures from Governor Reynolds, Coralville Parks and Recreation will make the following changes to operations to observe the new guidelines.

Programs & Sports
  • All registered program classes are suspended. Staff will be in contact regarding rescheduling or other arrangements.
  • All youth and adult sport activities are suspended including open basketball and open volleyball registrations.
Building & Pool Use
  • All building use for the Coralville Recreation Center is for Coralville resident only or West High Students. Users must have a Rec Pass to enter the facility. Learn more about obtaining a Rec Pass at  
  • All use of the Coralville Indoor Pool is for Coralville resident, Coralville Pool Pass holder, or West High School student with ID.
  • All building use is by appointment only including lap swim, open swim, gym use, exercise room, and game room. There are limited openings per timeslot. Call the Coralville Recreation Center at 319.248.1750 to make a reservation for use individually or with immediate household members.  
    • Gym Use – may schedule and will be assigned one basket. Max per hoop is two if from same household, otherwise hoops are reserved for one person. Players may only use the one basket and must stay on their one assigned basket. No cross court or full court games. Time slot will be for one hour. Four baskets will be used in the Big Gym and two in the Mini-Gym.
    • Exercise Room – one, hour reservations at a time. One person at a time.
    • Lap Swim – one person allowed per lane.  
    • Open Swim – only fifteen people will be allowed in the pool at one time. Open swim will be in one, hour time blocks.    
  • Masks are required for all indoor activities in the Recreation Center. Masks must be worn through the locker room and to the water, but not in the water, for the indoor pool.

Hybrid School Program
  • The Coralville Hybrid School Age Care program will continue under normal operations. The high school WiFi NESTS will continue taking reservations for use of a table and access to WiFi on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday evenings. High school ID required. 
North Ridge Pavilion 
  • North Ridge Pavilion rentals will be limited to fifteen (15) people.   

Parks & Trails
Outdoor spaces and trails remain open. Socially distance from those outside of immediate family when using outdoor spaces, and wear a mask when six feet of distance cannot be maintained.

Limited Capacity & By Appointment

The Coralville Recreation Center has a modified schedule for fall. Access is by appointment only. See above.

The schedule has assigned times for different age groups and program types. This allows equitable use among different ages and abilities while maintaining a reduced capacity for social distancing. 

Some activities require registration to fairly distribute opportunities.
