On November 7, 2023, Meghann Foster was re-elected to the office of Mayor; Royce Peterson and Rich Vogelzang, who both ran unopposed, were newly elected to the City Council.
Peterson and Vogelzang will serve on the city council with Laurie Goodrich, Hai Huynh, and Mike Knudson, who were not up for election this year. Mayor Foster was elected to a second term; Foster became the first female mayor in Coralville’s history when first elected Mayor in 2021.
One of the two council seats on the ballot fills the seat of Keith Jones, who was appointed in June 2022 to fill the remainder of a term. The council seat held by appointee Jones is filled immediately by the elected City Council candidate with the most votes once the canvass of votes is completed. The City Council candidate with the second-highest vote total takes office on January 1, 2024.
As of the initial election results, Council Member Peterson will take office once the canvass of votes is completed on November 14, 2023. Terms for Council Member Vogelzang and Mayor Foster begin January 1, 2024.
Election results are unofficial until they are canvassed by the Johnson County Board of Supervisors. Election results
